The Passion: Easter reading
Jesus prayed for his followers, asking the Father to guard them in unity and truth. Betrayed, he was arrested and endured questioning before Pilate, yet declared his kingdom was not of this world. Condemned, he carried the cross and was crucified, fulfilling Scripture. From the cross he entrusted his mother to John and declared, “It is finished.” Buried in a garden tomb, he rose on the third day, appearing first to Mary Magdalene, then to his disciples, breathing peace and commissioning them. By the sea, he restored Peter, calling him to shepherd his flock with love.
Psalm 23
