Renew Together Week one: Knowing God’s Call
When you give your life to Jesus, you say, yes, I’m a Christian, but also there’s a call to give your life to Jesus and follow His call.
We are not saying yes to Jesus to just sit at the sideline. We are saying yes to Jesus to follow Jesus, to run the race that he set for us.
Wait
Jesus appeared to the disciples over a period of forty days after his resurrection and spoke about the kingdom of God. On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” Wait…
The Passion: Easter reading
Jesus prayed for his followers, asking the Father to guard them in unity and truth. Betrayed, he was arrested and endured questioning before Pilate, yet declared his kingdom was not of this world. Condemned, he carried the cross and was crucified, fulfilling Scripture. From the cross he entrusted his mother to John and declared, “It is finished.” Buried in a garden tomb, he rose on the third day, appearing first to Mary Magdalene, then to his disciples, breathing peace and commissioning them. By the sea, he restored Peter, calling him to shepherd his flock with love.
Psalm 23
We can see the way David spoke about God and to God and all that meant for him, so that his personal encounter with God, becomes our personal encounter with God. I want you to see he’s your great shepherd, who provides for you, protects you and preserves you. In the most difficult and dark of circumstances he is with you.
