Communion occurs on the first Sunday of each month. “Do this in remembrance of me” Luke 22:19.
It’s a sober time when we think about Jesus, about how He suffered for our benefit. He was fully human so He felt the whole awful cross thing. He was also ‘fully divine’, which means He’s still on the job, just in a new role of the ‘Holy Spirit’.
We are requested not to take the elements of the bread and wine unless we have ‘repented of our sins’, We are not worthy even to gather the crumbs from under ‘Your’ table. We need ‘Your’ healing merciful God: give us true repentance.
I’ve always thought of sin as ‘getting it wrong; of my stupidity and poor decisions affecting people and/or the natural order of life.
Last Sunday’s Communion was different. A small miracle occurred for me and it has set me free.
Sin is not WHAT you’ve done – it’s ‘the heart of the matter.’ Sin is the evil motivation behind the unfortunate incidents. Repentance is identifying the motivation and begging for forgiveness.
