   1. Unity is agreement, harmony, oneness
   2. Unity is vital in God’s mission
   3. Unity answers Jesus’ prayer in John 17

 

2. A call to be like-minded
   1. We have the same goal & purpose
   2. We put the well-being of others first
   3. We focus on one God

 

3. A call to humility
   1. An attitude of lowliness and obedience
   2. God commands humility (Micah 6:8; 1 Peter 5:5)
   3. God exalts the humble (Luke 1:52)
   4. God humbles the proud (Luke 14)
   5. Jesus, the greatest example of humility

 

4. Called to imitate (copy) Jesus
   1. To imitate Jesus is to adopt:

…his attitude

…his way of encouraging

…his way of speaking to others

…his way of acting toward others

…his way of servanthood and humility

What will be our response as we look into the mirror of God’s word?

Asking ourselves as we do, what do we see? Is the way I’m living life promoting unity…is my attitude the same as Jesus’?

Our challenge is having the same attitude as Jesus, and living such other centered lives that those around us want to become followers of Christ.
