Love is not a “second-hand emotion” – it’s an eternal investment. In 1 Thessalonians 2:17–20 we see Paul’s deep, Spirit-filled affection for the Thessalonian church: he longs to be with them, he battles real spiritual opposition to their fellowship, and he sees them as his “hope, joy and crown” when Christ returns. This sermon explores what that kind of cross-shaped love looks like for us today: longing for fellowship, expecting Satan’s attempts to divide, and intentionally investing in people’s walk with Jesus – because the only riches that cross heaven’s threshold are the lives we’ve loved toward Christ.

The Thessalonian church was a community so in love with Jesus that their faith “rang out everywhere.” In 1 Thessalonians 1:7–10 we see a powerful picture of what it looks like when a church truly loves Christ: they become an example to other believers, the word of God echoes through their everyday conversations, idols are ruthlessly abandoned, and their lives are shaped by a real anticipation of Jesus’ return. This message challenges us at Fairfield Baptist Church to reject mere strategies and busyness, and instead rediscover wholehearted love for Jesus that overflows into bold, authentic witness.

Are you simply agreeing that Jesus will return, or are you actually living ready for it?

Drawing from 1 Thessalonians, this message explores the difference between believing in Christ’s return and ordering your whole life around it. We look at the remarkable church in Thessalonica—young, persecuted, yet spiritually deep—and uncover three truths that shaped their readiness: they belonged in God, they gathered as His people, and they built His kingdom together.

Rooted in the gospel realities of grace and peace, this article invites you to examine your own heart: Does your life show that you belong to God? Are you meaningfully connected to His church? Are you ready if He comes today—or if you go to Him before He returns?

At Fairfield Baptist Church, we believe small groups are not an optional extra but crucial to our spiritual health. Acts 2:42–47 gives us a compelling vision: believers devoted to the apostles’ teaching, to fellowship (koinonia), to shared meals, and to prayer—and “the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”

That kind of “white‑knuckled” devotion to Christ overflows into deep love for His people. It looks like sharing life, carrying each other’s burdens, practicing whole‑church pastoral care, and growing together in awe of God.

When a cyclone rolls across our country, we’re abruptly reminded that so much of life is out of our control. Yet in weeks like this, Psalm 91 speaks more loudly than ever. It holds together more of God’s promises of protection than almost any other chapter in Scripture. But what does it truly mean to find refuge under His wings? This isn’t about living in a bubble free from trouble; it’s about discovering a deeper truth: nothing can ultimately separate us from His love. Join us as we explore the profound comfort and strength found in Psalm 91.

The Christian life isn't plain sailing—we face a real spiritual battle daily. But here's the victory: we don't fight in our own strength. Christ has already won. Put on God's armor, stand firm in prayer, and remember—it's not even a fair fight. The resurrection proves it.

When we open Ephesians 5:21–33, many of us brace ourselves. We expect a “marriage talk”—maybe inspiring, maybe painful, maybe mixed. But this passage is not merely a set of rules for husbands and wives; it is a window into the very heart of Christ.

We're focusing on these two essential pillars of faith. Prayer is our soul's approach to God's throne through the Holy Spirit. God's Word is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating our hearts and transforming our lives (Hebrews 4:12).
