Hi Folks, I’ve just finished reading your comment from Corrie Ten Boom’s illustration of the woven cloth with the reverse side and the untidy threads. It was an illustration that Corrie often used with great effectiveness. Can I give you an insight into her life with a memory our family have of Corrie. It all took place sometime in 1954. She arrived in Auckland unannounced with only one contact. It was a man by the name of Mr Keith Rimmer. Keith was the founder and editor of the “Challenge ” magazine He was a personal friend and pastor of the little mission our family was attending at the time called “The Auckland Wayside Mission” later changing its name to “The Peoples Church”
Keith was busy, but he rang my parents, Dad & Mum Golding and asked if they could take her to meetings he had arranged for Corrie to speak at that week.

No one knew the story of Corrie Ten Boom, but when my parents brought her back from the first meeting they had taken her to speak, they were overwhelmed.
I’m sure you know her story, Helping downed RAF airmen and Jews escape the Nazis through the underground movement conducted in her house until she was betrayed by a neighbour . Corrie transformed our lives and house forever that week! The power of her personality and message soon spread. Billy Graham asked her to speak several times during his New York Crusade in 1957.
She returned to New Zealand some years later, but this time Mr Robert A Laidlaw got her to stay with him and instead of taking her to meetings in a humble VW he chauffered her in his Rolls Royce. I was 14 years of age at the time – she was such a powerful personality I can remember her vividly, though I’m 84 now. Just a little insight into her life that changed mine forever. Regards Rob Golding
