A Spiritual Diet
The older I become, the more I realize the importance of being disciplined about my diet. This is true for both the natural and the spiritual food I need.
As you read this you are about to have, or already had, spiritual food for today. It is easy to take for granted having a good ‘feed’ each Sunday. Our pastor Geoff spends much time preparing our ‘Sunday meal’, but how much more satisfying it is to also prepare our own ‘spiritual’ food each day! In the natural it would be unsatisfying if we only ate on Sundays.
So to remain strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might we need to feed on God’s word daily. God’s word tells us to put on the whole armour of God to stand against the wiles of the devil and to use the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. The older I become the greater I feel the need to daily feed on God’s Word.
This week I looked back over my journal of the last 15 years. This reminded me of God’s faithfulness to keep me from yielding to temptation, to encourage me not to give up, and through obedience I learned that God’s will is good, perfect and acceptable. Through all these years He guided, comforted, taught and corrected me.
He will continue to do so as I seek Him who is the Living Bread which came down out of heaven.
