Being ready, enduring to the endFollowing Jesus example.

We have recently been challenged by the Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow.

The winners, especially the Kiwi ones, are well profiled in the media. Underlying the success and even being selected, requires dedication and years of unseen preparation, both physically and mentally.

Paul in 1 Corinthians 9:24 says “Do you know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore do not run like a man running aimlessly…..”

In the ‘race of life’ we are in for the long haul, with no retirement, and as one of the Waikato athletes said “It is not over until the end”.

Let us “run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus the author and perfector of our faith”. Hebrews 12

A recent quote from the Director of Pioneers hit me, We are not here to increase our ease“.

May we be encouraged to follow through on what He has laid before us, …… to the end of this first half of our whole life.
