FATHERS’ DAY MESSAGE

About 18 years ago I held 2 small girls in my arms and honestly felt a bit shell shocked about it all. They did not come with instructions or a manual, in fact they did not come with much except the ability to cry, eat and poop, oh and occasionally sleep.

The days flew by and now I am the father of 4 amazing, beautiful, smart, funny girls. As they get older they are thinking about going out into the big world, for their next adventure. This time they may not need me as much as they have in the past. They will make decisions and do new things, things without me. And that makes me a little sad. Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited that they are growing up but my job as a father is changing. Maybe getting less. It will soon be time for them to head out and make their mark on the world. And if they need to come back home for a while that will be alright too.

But eventually, like all of us, they will need to spread their wings and soar toward everything that God has planned for each one of us. And that is comforting as a father, God has a plan for each and every one of us. Mia, Greta, Yasmin, Brooke, you and I.

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans. Proverbs 16:3
