This coming Thursday is Thanksgiving Day in the United States. Families, where Christ is preeminent, will gather together to honour God’s faithfulness and express love for the Lord, the family, and their friends.

“I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works.” (Ps 9:1)

To be able to praise God as David did, and in complete freedom, is something we Christians in the United States – as well as in New Zealand – often take for granted.

However, Christians in some countries live in fear of God-hating death squads. Reports are becoming more numerous about Muslim radicals attacking churches and killing Christians in what they percevie to be a service to Allah. They try to seize every opportunity to drive Christians out of Muslim dominated countries once and for all.

In contrast, we who love the Lord should serve Him in spirit and in truth by proclaiming His message of hope, redemption, and new life in Christ and by giving thanks continually for what God has done for us.
