Struggle to Strength

We all struggle in our daily lives – whether it is trying to make ends meet, or we may have family, relationship, work or health problems. At times, we may even wonder if we will have the strength to carry on.

However, when we find others far worse off than us, our complaints quickly fade into insignificance as we come to appreciate all of the blessings we truly have.

During the recent typhoon in the Philippines, thousands lost their lives and millions are affected by destroyed homes and the lack of medicine, food and clean water.

Natural disasters remind us that as individuals, we are weak and easily overwhelmed by the forces around us. We must rely on God for the strength to face the tough challenges ahead of us; no matter how “strong” we think we are, we cannot always do it on our own.

Isaiah 40:29-31 (NIV): “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint”.

Whether your need is great or small, remember to pray for strength – and guidance. Please also pray for the survivors of Typhoon Yolanda to have the strength they need as they struggle to rebuild their homes and their lives.
