Painting is very much on my mind as I clean and prepare the walls of my bedroom for its new look. This has required much hard work, but I can’t wait until its finished to see the freshness and ‘newness’ it will have.

I have a beautiful painting on my lounge wall that reflects the wonder and beauty of creation. It brings to my memory Ps 46:10: “Be still and know that I am God”. The colour, the stillness in the waterfall and surrounding bush and hills also remind me of the love with which it was painted.

Back to the room cleaning, and prep!! In the same way that David experienced the Lord’s cleansing, forgiveness and wholeness in Ps 51, we too need to come daily before the Lord and keep very short accounts telling Him of our sin and mistakes. He knows us through and through. Ps 139:1-4 (ESV)says: “O LORD, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether”.

How many of us though, fail to do this carrying heavy burdens of unconfessed sin or failure, not knowing the joy and faithfulness of the Lord whose mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:23).

Jesus Christ died on the cross for each of us taking all our sin upon Himself that we might know the joy of freedom and forgiveness that can come from a life surrendered to Him.

Acts 2:21 says: And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’
