It has been interesting watching the Presidential Election run-up in America. We have seen so much blustering, deceit and inconsistency that it’s hard to know what the candidates really stand for. But this is human nature. In John 2 we read that Jesus did not put his faith in human beings because He knew what was in them.
Every world leader is tarred with the same brush and it seems that it is not the good of the people or the desire for truth and justice and righteousness that drives them. At the end of the day the main concern is to get into power or hold on to power and it is so sad to see the lengths they will go to, to do this.
All this makes a believer long for the day when the only worthy leader will rule in a Kingdom where righteousness, justice, truth, love and compassion are paramount. A leader who has no secret agendas or personal ambitions because all power and authority is His anyway. He doesn’t need our votes to rule and no-one will ever be able to depose Him.
“The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever.” Revelation 11:15
