Caring For The Poor

Deuteronomy 15: 7-11. “There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be open-handed toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land.” (v11)
How fitting this scripture is this week as we have the Prayer and Self Denial Appeal in progress. We have been learning via the Mission Impossible presentations how our church missionaries and the Tranzsend team are being obedient to God serving the poor.
It is also great that we at Fairfield Baptist provide for our local community through providing a cheap, nutritious meal each fortnight and have a reputation of kindness and generosity. We also provide Sunday lunch for our sister church at Te Whanau Putahi regularly. I’m sure there is more we could do locally and our new Pastor will no doubt encourage this. I will be cooking lunch at TWP on 18th June and 16th July so if anyone would like to help prepare and/or serve these meals with me, let me know.
