In 1927 Arthur Finlay bought an 800 acre farm on the banks of the now Karipiro lake. As he was sick with TB the doctors told him that he would only be able to work 1 hour a day. He prayed that God would heal him and he was healed. Arthur then begun pouring his strength into breaking the land and making it into a viable farm.

All that would be a story lost to a single family’s history if it had not been for one action Arthur took in 1946 when he gave 10 acres to the Baptist Churches.  And so Finlay Park Adventure Camp began.

Since then an untold number of people have been able to have an encounter with Christ at Finlay Park. I am not sure what went through Arthur’s mind in making the decision to donate part of his farm. I am not sure that Arthur Finlay knew what an impact his decision would have on the generations that would follow. What I do know is that Arthur Finlay was faithful.

 Faith like a mustard seed:

Luke 13:1: It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his garden. It grew and became a tree, and the birds perched in its branches.”

What are you being asked to be faithful with?
