The Helper

And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever – you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you”. John 14: 16, 17

When Jesus left this earth to be with His Father in Heaven, He did not leave us to our own de-vices. He left His Holy spirit with us, to com-fort and help us. The Holy Spirit is with us al-ways, we just need to recognise His presence and call upon Him in joyous faith.

We often think of God only in terms of our spirit’s welfare. However, He wants to concern Himself and help in even the smallest matters and decisions in our lives. One of the ways in which the Helper meets our everyday needs, is to save us time.

If we have a close relationship with the Holy Spirit, we will learn to recognise His loving directions, which may come in the form of urg-es, or promptings. We need to learn how to recognise His voice. The Holy Spirit will never tell us anything contrary to Scripture. So if we find that our inner guidance did not violate any of God’s loving laws or hurt another, then we can trust to obey it.

It is joyous to live in this close relationship with the Holy Spirit, and it strengthens our faith in God to trust the Holy Spirit for even the minutiae of our lives.
