Fear

Many years ago I was watching a play in Gettysburg, held in a large hall on a rainy night. Halfway through the  production, a bolt of lightning struck the roof, and lit all the ceiling wiring and lights extra bright . This was immediately followed by a huge”bang” of thunder, the loudest I have ever heard. Immediately the audience of 250 people rose to their feet in a
panic.

Fortunately several men shouted for everyone to sit down as the lights came back on and order was restored.

This reminded me of Isaiah 44 . 8 .”Fear not nor be afraid ” Easy to read now but at the time self-preservation takes over.
God wants us to stand out for him, hence the encouragement from the Holy Spirit and the Bible. Paul says we should be more bold to speak the word of God without fear. There is no fear in love as perfect love casts out fear.

We love because he first loved us. We need to follow Christ’s teachings. God has so much to give us if we would only follow Him.

We have so much to be thankful for. We live in a beautiful world God has created. In our daily lives do we fear to approach our neighbours to talk about what God has done for us or could do for them ? Do we offer the hand of friendship to those less fortunate than ourselves? We need to get personally involved like the good Samaritan.
