The Resurrection of Christ – despite the rejection of this truth by many and the plethora of religions and beliefs available to all humanity today – is fact! Someone once said due to the evidence we have, not least the eye-witness accounts contained in scripture, it is far more difficult to believe Jesus doesn’t exist than the fact he does. The story of Thomas in John 20 confronts us with the matter – the question even – of belief. Thomas’ example represents a space between belief and doubt. When Jesus eventually appeared to Thomas, and showing him the wounds sustained on the cross, Thomas believed, bridging that space, doubt removed, crying out “my Lord and my God!”
Today, on this resurrection Sunday, you can be 100% certain that Jesus died for you, and rose to life on the third day, as he said he would. He gave his life, for you, and for the sin of all humanity. Writer C.S. Lewis said “You must make your choice. Either this man (Jesus) was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God”.
He is risen, this is a fact! Be encouraged to make the choice today, from doubt to belief, to call him your Lord and God.
