“Why Christians Need Fellowship”

               (Reference: Dr. Dale. A Robbins).

1 John 1:7 “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”

The Bible says “the life is in the blood” (Lev 17:11). This is true biologically and spiritually. The blood in your body is a cleansing agent and survival is not possible without the continual circulation of the blood. So it is within the Body of Christ, the Church (1 Cor 12:27). For the blood of Jesus Christ to have its continual cleansing effect over our sins, we must remain attached to Christ’s body. If we sever fellowship with His body, we risk cutting off the circulation of the cleansing blood.

Fellowship with our fellow believers is an exercise of love bringing us toward spiritual maturity; it is God’s great classroom for the development of Christian character. All spiritual virtues must be challenged and tested to bring forth progress.  Our degree of love toward the brethren is the gauge that shows our love for God. (1 John 4:12).

Our church is all the stronger when  we make more and more connections with others. Staying for coffee and tea after church is a great opportunity to learn people’s names and to get connected. Our Church Ministries and Outreach Activities give us marvellous opportunities to meet this need for fellowship and we should make every effort to be involved in at least one of these.

The Classic Services are excellent opportunities to put fellowship into practice. Currently we are looking at Bible prophecies and God’s covenants with His people, both Israel, (Wife of Jehovah) and The Church, (the Bride of Christ). Messiah is coming soon for His Bride and at today’s Classic Service we are asking, “are we ready”? and “how best can we prepare”? There is opportunity to share, both in the service, and afterwards around tea. You are invited to join us.
